Improvement Plan

Standards in the Core Subjects -
Mathematics

2018-2019

Further develop pupils' mental mathematics and problem solving skills across the School's age range.

Develop procedures for promoting mathematics in cross-curricular work.

Review and develop current strategies for challenging gifted and less able pupils.

Improve standards: i.e. percentage achieving Mathematics Level 5.

Improve standards: i.e. percentage achieving MD Outcome 6.

Develop strategies to promote numerical skills in the Foundation Phase.

The above will have particular focus on boy's attainment.

Review the impact of the new Mathematics Scheme of Work on standards and arrange INSET for all

Teaching and Support Staff.

Provide INSET for Teaching and Support Staff in the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

Standards in the Core Subjects -
 Literacy

2018-2019

Continue to develop procedures that promote attainment in Reading across the School's age range.

Develop procedures that promote pupil attainment with a focus on Spelling.

Improve standards: i.e. percentage achieving English Level 5.

Improve standards: i.e. percentage achieving LLC Outcome 6.

Develop strategies to promote Language, Literacy and Communication skills in the Foundation Phase.

The above will have particular focus on boy's attainment.

Provide INSET for Teaching and Support Staff in the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

Standards in the Core Subjects -
 ICT

2018-2019

Review the use of ICT in the International Primary Curriculum and implement improvements.

Review the use of Mac Systems and implement findings accordingly.

Provide INSET for Teaching and Support Staff in the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

Welsh

2018-2019

Review all attainment results in Welsh across the age range and continue to introduce strategies to further promote Oracy, Reading and Writing.

Review the Welsh Unit's contribution to promoting standards and introduce procedures as required.

Further develop procedures for developing Welsh For Parents'.

Wellbeing

2018-2019

Based on a review of the effectiveness of the Whole School Wellbeing Policy, implement procedures that further promote pupil, parent and governor involvement.

Provide INSET for Teaching and Support Staff in the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

Self Assessment Procedures

2018-2019

Increase the use of coaching' in the School's Performance Management Systems.

Based on a review of the computer based self-assessment system and its effect on standards, implement strategies that further promote this method of assessment. Provide INSET for Teaching and Support Staff in the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

The Role of the Governors

2018-2019

Further develop strategies that ensure that newly appointed Governors are involved in the School Improvement Plan and the School Development Plan.

Provide INSET on the requirements of the New Curriculum (AoLE's).

Implement strategies for online discussion and information-sharing
